The deets
The hunt for British chippies is well over at this point but we still go in case we find a hidden gem.
Over the long weekend me and my partner wanted to go out and get some food by the beach. After being shocked by what we can only assume is overpriced school holiday pricing at our usual beachside haunt we remembered that Larrie’s is a thing.
What can we say about Larrie’s chips? They were morish. They were crispy – they had a good crunch but they were soft within. There was a perfect amount that didn’t leave me feeling like I was going to explode. They weren’t greasy!
Points against the Britishness of the chips would have to be the steak cut and the chicken salt. Of course we love chicken salt, it’s probably one of the best inventions of Australia but it’s just not British.
All this being said about the chippies I can absolutely recommend Larrie’s as everything was top tier. The whole meal was super well priced, the fish was soft and flakey and the milkshake, which was incredibly thick, cost $6 and it was amazing.
Kudos Larrie.
